Lakewood UCC became an Open and Affirming congregation way back in 2001. In 2021, we reaffirmed and expanded our Open and Affirming statement. We know that a lot has changed in our understanding of human sexuality, gender identities, and gender expression in the past 25 years. We are excited to announce a series this fall where we will revisit our scriptural and theological understandings of being an Open and Affirming church, as well as dive deep into conversations about non-binary and transgender identities. On Sunday, Nov. 2, we will be joined by two presenters, Rev. Candace Woods and Terra Greer from Juniper Formation (a local UCC community), who will lead us through specifically what it means to create a safe and welcoming space for our trans and nonbinary community members. , and you can sign up at the welcome center or by filling the form below!
